About Us

What is Interface Arts?
​
Interface Arts is an artists’ network for County Durham.

​Who can become a member?
Artists and creative practitioners of any discipline (e.g. painters, sculptors, drama practitioners, actors, musicians, dancers, writers, etc) who either live in County Durham or work predominantly within the County. You must be a practicing or aspiring creative practitioner, and creativity must form a significant part of your life (whether or not you actually make a living from it). Please see full membership criteria below.

Our Aims and Objectives

Aim
Interface Arts is a democratic and co-operative organization. It aims to promote wider exposure to, and participation in the arts in County Durham and its surrounding area using the skills of the membership to facilitate arts, crafts and performance activities.
Objectives
  • To facilitate and promote, shows, events, exhibitions and performances, by and with Interface Arts members.
  • To facilitate opportunities for members to learn new skills and experiment with ideas within the broad concept of art, from other Interface Arts members or invited speakers.
  • To provide an arts forum, for the exchange of ideas.
  • To provide public workshops with the aim of promoting wider participation in the arts.

Membership

The Benefits of Joining Interface Arts
  • Regular contact with other artists and creatives
  • Being part of a social support network
  • Opportunity to participate in collaborative exhibitions and performances to show work, gain experience and sell work.
  • Opportunity to organise and lead workshops for other members
  • Sharing of skills
  • Each member is entitled to be represented on the site under the "Our Artists" page, onto which you can load your contact details, an images of your work and information about your work as an artist and provide links to your own website.
  • Members receive email communications about news, detailing opportunities such, jobs, commissions, exhibitions and members activities we know about.​
Membership Criteria
  • You must live and/or work in County Durham and surrounding areas.
  • You must be a practising or aspiring artist or craftsperson.
  • Members who wish to take part in exhibitions or other Interface Arts events are expected to attend meetings and assist in organising these events.
  • The membership fee is £24 per year renewable in June.
  • Complete the application form which will be sent to you.​
